The SYSA Technical Committee is a group of experienced coaches who are tasked to guide our clubs soccer development initiatives, which includes but is not limited to player development, team composition, league and program formats, coaching development, coaching mentorship, and coach selection.  The technical committee also facilitate Shuswap FC player evaluation process.

SYSA TECHNICAL COMMITTEE PROGRAMS, INITIATIVES, & PROJECTS

PROGRAMS
FALL CUP
Shuswap FC players will engage in a games-based training program, where SYSA Staff Coaches will create new teams each week.  Players will be able to try a variety of positions, be given objectives, and be challenged with different scenarios each week. Developing a greater understanding of the game, building confidence and skills, all while playing games!

High Level Training Programs (Spring, Fall, Winter)
Staff coaches deliver weekly training sessions  for Future Stars, Development & Select Players.  Sessions focus on Individual Player Development. 

INITIATIVES
Goalkeeper Training:
Shuswap FC Staff Coaches deliver free goalkeeper training sessions throughout the spring season for committed Future Stars, Development, and Select Goalkeepers. 

Attacker Training:
Shuswap FC Staff Coaches deliver additional attacker themed training sessions throughout the spring season for future stars teams, development teams,  as well as Select attacker small group sessions.

Coach Development:
SYSA Techincal Commitee Facilitates additional in house coach development sessions with Technical Committee Members, EFS Coaches, or other guest Coaches.

Coach Mentorship:
Technical Committee Members offer season long support for Future Stars, Development & Select Coaches.  This includes on-field support, session plans, coaching resources, communication, and feedback!

Fall Player Evaluation Process
Technical Committee members facilitate the Fall Player Evaluation Process for all of the Shuswap FC Development and Select teams. The results of the evaluations will be used to determine the composition of the Development & Select teams.  Players are also provided the opportunity to request individual evaluation feedback.

Shuswap FC Coach Application Process
The SYSA Technical Committee uses the information gathered through the Coach Applications, year long Player Evaluation process, and years of coaching knowledge to determine which applicants will best suit the teams for the upcoming season.

European Football School – Pre-Season Spring Break Camp: The SYSA Technical Committee bring in professional coaches for a week long subsidized camp for Shuswap FC Future Stars, Development, and Select Players over Spring Break, where players can get ready for their upcoming season!

Spring House League Coaching Resources and Formats
Following the guidance of the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards, the SYSA Technical Committee decides which formats each age group is going to play, and recommends what resources and support the club will be providing for Community Coaches and Players.

PROJECTS:
Blackburn Artificial Turf:  Along with the SYSA Facilities Committee, the SYSA Technical Committee helped determine the appropriate sizes for the new Facility, and will be tasked with creating Fall and Winter High Level Training Programs for this facility for years to come.

Little Mountain Rebound Wall:  The SYSA Technical Committee proposed a rebound wall at Little Mountain, for players to use as an effective individual training tool. SYSA received funding from City of Salmon Arm, and will be constructing the Rebound Wall in Fall 2026.

Mojo Sports / TeamSnap+:  The SYSA Techincal Committee decided to invest in the Mojo Sports App back in 2023, and have seen incredible results in our coaches confidence, and training sessions.  Resulting in Player Development and Coach Satisfaction improvements!
