SYSA Volunteer Opportunities

Coach

SYSA relies on the dedication of volunteers to ensure a successful season every year. As a club we encourage all our families to contribute in some capacity and be actively involved. Volunteers are the backbone of our club, allowing us to maintain and continue to deliver high-quality soccer programs.

SYSA will cover the cost for each SYSA coach registered for a coaching course and are committed to coaching an applicable team in 2024, this is for all ages U6-U18 through the current Canada Soccer Association Community Stream.

Manager

The Team Manager is the liaison between the coach, parents, players, and the Club. Keep the team organized and running smoothly by communicating practice information, snack schedule and game schedules through our soccer system. It is important that the Team Manager works with parents to ensure that player availability is kept up to date for all games and practices.

Junior Coach Program

The purpose of the program is to provide the framework and opportunity for student athletes to not only begin giving back to their communities, but also get them started on their own Coaching development pathway.

SYSA is excited to support players in our community in gaining coaching, leadership, and professional skills by providing an environment with great role models for our younger players to look up to. Junior Coaches will gain experience to develop effective communication/listening skills, goal-setting accountability, showing initiative, and taking risks to grow and creating opportunities for players to build confidence in coaching roles.

Junior Coaches Responsibilities:

Criminal Record Check for Volunteers & Coaches

Shuswap Youth Soccer requires that all volunteers and coaches over the age of 19 must submit a Criminal Record Check. SYSA policy recognizes valid Criminal Record Checks (CRC) for 3 years and after that time volunteers will need to resubmit. If you have had CRC done for another organization or employer, you can electronically share your results or provide a copy to SYSA admin.

The BC Provincial Government has implemented its own CRC process providing free checks for non-profit groups.
To Begin your Criminal Record Check please: CLICK HERE.
