FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BC Soccer Association does not allow youth players to play in divisions below their age. Therefore SYSA needs proof of the player’s age the first time you register with our club. A photo copy of one of the following documents must be submitted with your registration.
- Birth Certificate;
- Baptismal Certificate;
- Care Card;
- Passport;
- Citizenship card/papers;
- Immigration papers;
- Status Indian card; or
- Sworn affidavit.
Please note, if you have previously submitted Proof of Age you do not need to resubmit.
Shuswap Youth Soccer Association is contractually obligated to provide a team picture to our sponsors. Due to their generous support we are able to help keep registration fees lower.
A portion of your registration covers insurance & membership fees that Shuswap Soccer pays to BC Soccer every year–for every player up to the age of 10, our association pays $21.00. For players 11-18 we pay $34.00. Every player in House/club soccer also receives a jersey. Field rental, equipment and referee (if applicable) costs are also factored in.
Youth soccer relies on parents and community volunteers for coaching duties. There will be clinics held towards the end of March/beginning of April. Information regarding dates and times will be posted on our website on the Coaching page as information becomes available. If interested please contact [email protected]
Games are played in the rain or shine except in the event that there is a heavy rainfall over an extended period of time and the city of Salmon Arm decides the fields must be closed. You will be contacted by SYSA by email, or first check our website for the most recent updates on field status.
Yes, SYSA works with multiple partners to ensure every child has the opportunity to play soccer.

You will receive an email from SYSA, or you may be contacted by your child’s coach before the start of the season.
Spring Outdoor House Soccer: A refund for the total amount paid minus a $25.00 cancellation fee will be given if your child’s registration is cancelled before April 1st. Registrations cancelled before April 15th will receive a 50% refund. There will be no refund given for registrations April 15th or later. Full registration concessions for injury will be given if medical note is produced to SYSA office.
Development and Select Soccer: The players $100.00 fall commitment fee will be forfeited. A refund for the remaining fees less a $25.00 cancellation fee will be given if your child’s registration is cancelled before February 15th. Registrations cancelled before March 1st will receive a 50% refund. There will be not refund given for registrations cancelled March 1st or later.
Club Programs: Registrations cancelled after the programs registrations deadline will receive a refund for the total amount paid less a $25.00 cancellation fee. There will be no refund for registrations cancelled after the programs first session. Club Programs include but are not limited to Street Soccer, Recreational, Timbits, High Level Training, Futsal, Fall Cup, Camps, Tournaments, Player Mentorship Program.
All Programs: All Registrations completed with payment will be charged at minimum a $10.00 Cancellation Fee if registration is cancelled at any time.
Soccer shoes and shin guards are required for your child’s safety. 3 and 4 year olds do not require cleats and shin pads.
