1. What equipment will my child need?
Soccer shoes and shin guards are required for your child’s
safety. 3 and 4 year olds do not require cleats and shin pads.
2. Is financial assistance available?
Yes. To request financial assistance complete a
KidSport Application form and hand it in at the Downtown
Activity Centre. Write that you have applied for
KidSport on your soccer registration form. Forms are available
from our website or at the Downtown Activity Centre.
3. What if my child decides not to play after
registering?
A refund for the total amount paid minus a $25.00 administration
fee will be given if your child has not played a game. If games have
been played, the refund will be pro-rated and include the $25.00
administration fee.
4. How do I know which team my child will be
on?
Your child's coach will call shortly after Easter weekend.
5. What is the procedure if my child is
injured?
If the injury is serious enough to warrant a visit to a medical
clinic notify your coach and contact the soccer office to fill out
insurance forms.
6. May I make a carpooling request?
One carpooling request may be made. It must be written on the
registration form and must match the request on the person's
registration form that you are requesting your player be with.
7. What if it rains?
Games are played in the rain except in the event that there is a
heavy rainfall over an extended period of time and the city of
Salmon Arm decides the parks must be closed. You will be contacted
by your player's coach. (Coaches will be contacted by co-ordinators.)
8. What does my registration fee cover?
A portion of your registration fee covers membership fees that
Shuswap Soccer pays to BC Soccer every year. For every player up to
the age of 10, our association pays $18.00. For players 11-18 we pay
$29.00. Every player in club soccer also receives a t-shirt. Field,
equipment and referee (if applicable) costs are also factored in.
9. Where do the Coaches come from?
Youth soccer relies on parents and volunteers for coaching duties.
There will be a couple of clinics held towards the end of
March/beginning of April by our Technical Director, Ezra Cremers.
Information regarding dates and times will be posted on the website
as information becomes available.
10. Why are team pictures important?
Shuswap Youth Soccer Association is contractually obligated to
provide a team picture to our sponsors. In return for financial
support, we provide our sponsors with these pictures to hang in
their establishments. Due to their generous support we are able to
help keep registration fees lower.
